Grade 1 Teacher

Katie Hayes was born and raised in Seal Beach, California with her parents and two sisters. She attended Our Lady of Refuge School K-8 and went on to attend St. Joseph High School. After high school, Ms. Hayes attended San Jose State University for her freshman year of college and then went on to the University of San Francisco to finish out her degree in History. She is currently attending Long Beach State and is pursuing her Education Specialist Credential.

In the past, Ms. Hayes has worked with children through volunteering in high school with Assisteens of Long Beach as well as through camps at Long Beach State for the past 9 summers. Through her experience at Long Beach State’s 49er Camp and Academic Enrichment Camp, Ms. Hayes has gained experiences to last a lifetime.

This will be Ms. Hayes’ first year teaching first grade at Our Lady of Refuge. For the past two years she worked as a teacher’s aide at St. Barnabas School in Long Beach. Ms. Hayes is extremely excited to be back at OLR and to revel in the experiences that she herself had as a first grader.  Go Bears!
